Correatown

Biografie

Correatown is the musical project of Angela Correa, an LA based artist.

A floating tapestry of textures and melodies, Pleiades seamlessly articulates Correa’s capacity for story telling, weaving her emotive lyricism around delicate layered arrangements anchored by her mellifluous voice.
Lead single Further sets the tone, it’s tinkling piano intro and spacious drums building to a euphoric chorus, evoking a sun-kissed warmth, sense of optimism and panoramic blues skies captured in the song’s accompanying video.
Originally from the small town of Yuba City in Northern California Correa has travelled the globe, eventually settling in Los Angeles’ Eastside and is now a mainstay in it’s tightly knit local music community.
In previous incarnations, Correatown was an amalgam of early folk and indie-pop sensibility; but over the past few years the sound has evolved into a lusher, more textured experience. Recalls Angela “When I began writing songs for our latest recordings I kept imagining the sounds and instruments that would shape the direction of our new songs. The most appealing were really freaked out thick and pulsing bass sounds or odd twitchy static noises tucked into shimmering and ethereal melodies. The more the band explored different arrangements and instruments, the more I felt the possibility of having a less organic sound that felt more evocative of the music we wanted to create was our compass.”
Angela Correa/ Correatown have released four full-length albums and two EPs on her own label in the U.S, Another Room Recordings. Her songs have appeared on US television, including Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Brothers and Sisters and How I Met Your Mother.
